- I tried 2 different Couriers (borowed from work) and was plagued with
- constant disconnects with all six connections I frequently make (ISP,
- CIS$, AOL, MSN, work, university). They worked find there (Win 3.1) and
- I'm running Win95 at home, but that should not make a difference (my
- Intel 14.4 worked fine w/Win95). After reading this newsgroup for a
- couple of weeks, I noticed many complaints about USR modems in general,
- poor customer service, etrc, but only positive things were being said
- about Supra FAXMODEMS. Many writers were clear to point out the
- difference between the FAXMODEMS and the Express, and said to avoid the
- Express them. Si I went looking to buy a Supra FM, and had a hard time
- finding them on the Peninsula (which is probably where you are...) Tried
- Fry's, CompUSA, Costco, a few small stores, no luck. Finally found
- plenty at Computer Attic in Redwood City. $219.95 for the external,
- which is what I wanted. Brought it home, worked right out of the box, no
- problems, no weird configuration things, a perfect modem, that nearly
- always connects at 28.8, sometimes 26, no slower so far.
- That's my experience, YMMV.
